Hello All Wanted to share these before and after photos of som Quartz rock I collected in Mariposa, CA, about 50 miles from my house. Nice red veining in them. Enjoy. Ed M. Hey Ed, nice looking batch. I could use a slightly larger pic, though. These old eyes had to strain to see them.

How come all the good stuff is so far away? Good thing RTHers post what I should be looking for in case I ever live someplace that has more than just sand 50 miles in every direction from where I live. Else I might not pick up the good stuff.
Okay, I admit it. That was a lie. I pick up rocks and stones even when they aren't the good stuff!
Thanks, Ed, for posting the before and aft pix. They look really pretty in the after shot. I especially like the darker-veined stones.

Em:I've tumbled some of that iron stained quartz from around our Mariposa County ranch too. I've been thinking of trying some of the copper stained stuff too. Our place butts up against an old copper mine as well as gold mines and some of the blue looks like it might stay in the quartz if tumbled. I'm thinking white quartz with any blue veining might work up kinda neat. Dang mine is in a steep canyon though. Gonna be no fun packing out the rock!....Mel
