Christa, her son and I were invited to over to Ralph and Mary Ann's (Stonesthatrock) for a bbq yesterday and boy did we have a great time! I brought along some larger rough (they gots the big saw!) that was an exchange for the great slabs they gave me back in July when we first met them at the Flagstaff show. I wasn't prepared to see just how much killer rock they had at their place! It was unbelievable!! Ralph bought out an estate a couple years ago that makes the collection I just bought look like half a flat rate box of sandstone!
Anyway, it was such an enjoyable afternoon. Good food and conversation ( a lot of rock and RTH talk They are such kind and generous people, and Ralph was determined to give me a sample of everything he had! Good grief, I ended up coming back with more than I took out there!
Here's a taste
Tiger eye, Brazilian, the killer orbicular stuff, some unknown slabs (IDs?) and some neat slag glass
Some fantastic copper minerals, a nice chunk of BC Jade, some beautiful limb casts, and a slab of something I don't remember what it's called. Mary Ann tried to tell me.. lepodite maybe??
Some Turquoise! The nuggets look to have been soaked in a resin or something many years ago. You can see by the cut one bottom left how sweet the color is. And the big faced chunk in the center just knocks my socks off!
Spencer Opal, Salt Bubble(?) Opal, and some gorgeous blue opal too ;D
And I brought along a big Verde River rock that they cut a few slabs off for me. The stuff wasn't nearly as exciting inside as I had envisioned, but it's still pretty sweet. Should cut a nifty cab or two
Oh man, there's more too but I'm running out of room here ;D
Thanks Stonesthatrock! It was a real treat spending the afternoon with you, and I really appreciate all the stones that rock!!
Thanks all for looking!
