Last Monday I was roaming around the Board checking out the many threads when I came across this thread posted by emyhro4048, AKA: Ed M.
forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=Pictures&action=display&thread=1188166399
The red-veining in the quartz rocks really caught my eye and so I posted a reply about the quartz. And I kidded about the fact that 50 miles in all directions from my home one can find SAND!
Ed sent me a PM and one friendly chat led to another until on Friday, in the middle of some intense thunderstorms, a Box of Sunshine arrived at my house. I wanted to post pix of the contents of that box but Mother Nature just kept sending one rolling pop-up storm after another. For a short while today, however, the famous Florida sunshine broke through and I was able to take these photos without having to worry about the equally famous Florida lightning.
Here is what was in my California Box of Sunshine from Ed M:
There was this really neat piece of Red-Veined Quartz from Mariposa, CA":
Two beautiful pieces of CA Serpentine which is very different in looks and structure from the Arizona Serpentine another buddy sent me some time ago:
Some milky quartz: (I really like this stuff; it will eventually get polished and I'll post the 'after' pix).
Some smaller pieces of quartz just right for topping off a tumble barrel of mixed sizes:
A neat selection of garnets that Ed M panned from the river:
Assorted rocks and agates gathered from the Mariposa area:
Assorted rocks just the right size for tumbling from the Merced River:
And a bunch of the red-veined quartz rocks that started this Box of Sunshine on its way:
Once again I am the recipient of the incredible generosity that keeps popping up all over RTH. There is still an awful lot of sand here in Florida, but because of people like Ed M, my house is slowly filling up with beautiful rocks.
Obviously, You ROCK!!! ;D
Thanks for looking, fellow RTHers. As you can see, these are more of those "Pictures of Generosity" RTH is famous for!
