I am proud of these. I haven't been around the board much, but I have been busy. It all started with a trip to the MO Mines Rock Swap last May where I got some cool rocks, mostly not clearly identified. I started cutting them up in my random kind of way and got the stuff below. Some in the following two pictures were self collected, for instance the light colored piece of wood came from Arizona. Also, those jaspery looking brown, red and tan slices came off of a rock I picked up in Arizona and cut into, revealing those really clear patterns inside. Hope they can be seen. There's a piece of mozarkite in there, too. Also, towards the top of the first photo there are 3 rocks that looked like South Dakota stuff -- one is pretty clearly a Tepee Canyon agate and the others maybe badlands? One was billed as a prairie agate & was in a box of them but looked more Fairburnish to me. Now here are some agates, mainly. Again, most came from boxes of rocks that were mainly unsorted. However, I have a whole lot of snakeskin agate that I've been cutting which often has great stuff inside. Some of the whole nodules may have been small snakeskin agates. How about that one that looks like a slipper, or a canoe, full of crystals? What I haven't figured out yet, is whether to cut open the ones that have an egg yolk-like center that you can see floating inside. I wonder whether they would also have patterning. I hope you aren't bored yet, there's lot's more to come.
