;D went out hunting for some wood Saturday, Green River, Utah area and found some awesome stuff. This is in the area Gaetz took us too, and I was really going to try to focus on digging a log out that I had uncovered from a previous trip. Gaetz..if you're listening; your Dino is still safe and untouched. My buddy and myself drove down Friday evening...seperatley. He took his 3 daughters and I was by myself. I was planning on staying thru until Sunday, because he had to come home Saturday. I think he needs one of those RTH stickers.. ;D (ultimate rockhounds)
We got there safely, and the only thing on my mind was to conquer the log. After several hours of digging and picking away at very hard rock, I managed to uncover a bit more and to make a wider hole.
After a couple more hours and me being too dang HOT and tired...I decided I needed Dynamite and gave up for another time. Here are some of the bigger pieces I managed to get out.
We explored and hiked around the area a little bit and my friend had to leave around 2-ish. It was extremely HOT...in the 100's, and after they left I decided on exploring some new country. I set off on foot, and lo and behold...I found another sweeeet spot littered with wood. Big chunks, small chunks....it was Wood Heaven!! Fortunatley I was able to 4 wheel drive close to the area, and load my Jeep up. Here's some pics of the bigger ones and some cool patterns on some small pieces.
Love the purples and reds
Cool Bandings!!
Cool color combo...orange and black!
Can't wait to cut this little "Popcorn" Agate
Some really cool KNOTS in the wood
And here's a few Agates that I thought were really unique
Red Moss?
I know there's lots of pics, and I'm sorry!! I just wanted to share the beautiful stuff I found. I probably will get a few Flat Raters together when I get a chance.
Timmer...when do you wanna go down that way again?? After coming home Saturday night and talking to my buddy yesterday,...he wanted to go back down today. ;D
I'm going to spend the rest of the day playing with rocks! ;D
