Howdy, Well while I've been monitoring the contest I've been smacking up some of my smaller Cady Mountains stuff for the tumbler and I finally finished the batch. Really nice stuff with lots of variety. Here are some pics of the rough. Thanks for looking ....mel The two whole tubs: Couple of kinda crumby closeup pics to give you some idea of the variety, mainly mosses and jasper/agate:

Wow, you sure can get some clean breaks with your hammer there mel,
some of that must be sawed, isn't it?

rally: No sawing at all. I use a chipping hammer and a rhodonite anvil and crunch'em up. Cady's agate is pretty nice stuff though and does tend to break pretty clean...mel

Jonje: Me too this stuff tumbles great but takes forever to shape as it's really hard and broken pieces have such sharp edges. Waiting for the ball Mill tumbler to be free and I'll run them for probably five or six recharges in that big booger before I move them on. Can't wait for winter to hit the Cady's again as that location is an agate treasure trove...Mel

Where did you say you collected that? Some of that rough really reminds me of the nicer mosses & jaspers I find on my secret beach here. Rob

Rob, All that material came from the North Cady Mountains about 45 mile NE of Barstow, CA. And, yes, Cady's material mimics patterns and colors from locations all over the west...Mel
