My nephews have been bothering my sister for a bolo tie to wear to church when my brother-in-law wears his. The little terrors darlings are 3 & 5, so it couldn't be anything too large, and something that could be altered later sounded ideal to my sister. KD graciously sent me the findings, and here are the pics of the final pieces. Fronts: Um...backs: These bolo findings were actually ideal, as the cord isn't permanently attached. In theory, the boys could use the same cord for multiple bolos, or you can clamp one side down around the cord a little more firmly for a "permanent" bolo. Anyway, they loved them, which I suppose is all that matters. The oldest nephew was bit bummed it wasn't out of dinosaur poop, though. Guess what he's getting for Christmas! ;D

Ronda, You're lucky, not many kids want poop for Christmas. Beautiful rocks by the way.

Wow! Beautiful! Lucky boys. Will the findings grip the cord tightly enough, in case the little darlings wish to swing their bolos over their heads like lassos? Not speaking from personal experience, but I think that's what my 5-yr-old girl would try with a bolo!

Amy - The finding does. It's not too tight that an adult can't easily adjust the bolo, but it was difficult for the five yo to do so without a little extra help. Plus, with the ends on the cord, it won't slip through.

Here's a somewhat closer picture, KD. Unfortunately, that's the best I have.

Very nice. Don't see many bolos up here in New England (maybe Connrock when he goes to meetins ;D )
Good idea for neckerchief slides for Boy Scouts too.

I remember when you posted the cabs you had designed for your sister and her family. The Bolos are gorgeous! How neat for the boys--something to treasure for years to come!

How fun! Another generation of rockhounds begins... Gorgeous use of the stones! I also do have to agree with Parfive; great idea for Cub Scout slides!
I do, however, have a question. I have been trying to find that bolo cord in bulk; looks like you have found a site, with colors? Can I ask where you found it? Thanks, and also thanks for sharing with your nephews. I will say it again: How fun!
