*Sigh* if only it was mine instead of belonging to the club! We had the club Gem & Mineral show this past weekend - my daughter sold 8 pairs of chainmaille earrings (we both worked on them but she'll keep the $) I bought so much more than what I sold - but I was working the demos showing how to cab - so I brought in some cabs that I had finished on my SC machine - *sigh* that Titan is making me cry - check the difference... This was my finished product This is the hematite gleam I get on the diamond - many more were done but the camera wasn't my friend and refused to cooperate The hematite just glows on this one Some imperial jasper, rutilated quartz, montana agate, porcelain jasper all had their turns on the diamond wheels and boy I love this machine... Here are my buys from the show... This is purple and gold obsidian - the photo is blurry but the colors are true Labradorite - I never had this stuff, it is gonna be sweeeeet! again colors are true some sort of agate - spiny agate?? Amethyst slice (I had no slices of this stuff yet) - drying slightly under the fan Total so far... $45.00 Here are the winners... This lot of 5 pieces of BO... - priceless.... (actually free!) Close-ups These were found a few minutes before I had to leave - I'm not sure they knew what they had or if they were trying to liquidate... Here's the whole lot - for $1 each - total $6 close ups I'm very happy - told hubby I wanted a diamond machine - since the Cdn $ is pretty strong, it would be nice... can you hear him laughing?? thanks for looking

That is some great rough. The machine looks like a CD cover with drops of water on it. How does it produce the cuts like you show?

I went to diamond in 1984 and have not looked back. The silicon carbide fans use the logic of expense and wheel life to not have diamond.I feel, and its just my opinion, that diamond gives a "true" finish to a cab.Now I too an looking at a new set up(a genie),but I am shopping comparing all diamond cabbers for now.Tweetiepy, you know what?I still have my original Highland Park combo cabber, for 3 reasons.First I got it for my 16th birthday instead of a car, second there are some stone types I prefer to do on Sic and polish with diamond, third using the old cabber to the grinding load(shaping) makes the diamond last longer.
Like you I too spent my weekend at a rock show....http://forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=Pictures&action=display&thread=1191106644........ and is there anything better than chewing the fat with fellow rockhounds and also bring home some bueaties to play with?
That Labradorite is top material,do seek advice from your club members or here before cutting,it can fish eye on you if your not careful.I think the agate in the 3rd photo is Luna agate IMHO.Last what can I say I am a opalholic...that boulder is nice.

So what was the best part of using the Titan? The 8" wheels? The fact that you can start at one end of the machine and go across and when you run out of wheels, the stone is done? I bet you had a blast. You picked up some nice slabs and the BO is a great score. Glad you were able to have fun and get some nice material too.

Wow Tweet, you got some really nice BO there, can't wait to see what you do with it. Love the cabs too, that's some nice stuff also.

That cab is australian tiger iron - only the diamond will give the hematite the shine it needs - although the first picture is better, the second one has the metalic sparkle of hematite
The best thing about the titan? the 8" wheels - no, although great, the smaller 6" of my SC combo unit is okay. the fact that they're all together - run through them all - although I'd prefer that to the changing out of belts, I don't mind so much (but I would like them to be all ready for use)
THE BEST thing of this machine is the shine I got from the diamond... the agates are blinding, a piece of not quite petrified wood would only get a very matte finish on the SC but took a dynamite shine on the diamond
I'd settle for a Genie if I had to but really like the TITAN - if I won the lottery, I doubt anyone would see me for a while if I got that machine!
I'll probably end up finishing them on my SC and then bringing them in to the club to finish up on the last 3 wheels!
