The gravel bar's out of the water and this time my best finds were the woods: I wondered whether the ones on the right might be some kind of life form? Pine cone or something like that? Speaking of life forms, I thought the ones in this picture also might be life forms, but I am not sure what. Then there was a bunch of stuff that is sort of like snakeskin agate, I guess. This is only a fraction of the pickups. I have a lot of yellow to gold translucent/transparent quartzy looking rocks that look like there might be some patterning in there if they are shaped. And the usual jaspers, etc. It was a nice couple hours.

Wow nice finds, you must have lucked ot somehow. Aren't most rivers picking up this time of year instead of letting out nice bars full of stuff like that?

Looks like you found some nice stuff. That reddish one in the center of the first pick looks real fine.

Sixth one down, top center is definitely a fossil, but I don't know what kind. Nice colorful wood!

Thank you! I was really pretty excited about this batch. There are some pieces of that really beautiful translucent, caramel looking wood. A lot of cool stuff comes out of the non-wood nodules from there, too. LCARS, I'm no expert on rivers but I've had the impression that they go up in the spring and down in the fall, usually. Actually I think it was higher than normal until recently due to rain in the upper midwest. Two weeks ago the gravel bar was underwater.

Nice rocks! It sucks because my family has gone over our internet downloads for the month and our interent connection has been slowed so it takes ages to load a page here on RTH, it's even slower than dial up!

Very nice finds, that river seems to be very generous!
