Hello all! ;D ;D ;D
Here's my first batch in ages - I used Tripoli as a prepolish and Rockshed AO for the main polish.
They've got a really nice shine but needless to say my photography doesn't show much of it!!!
Anyway - first up some Mookaite - came out quite nicely - not very rounded but I like the weirder freeform shapes:
Gotta have same lace in there somewhere - sorry about the dark pic I had to take the photos indoors...:
These were bits of those dyed agate slices that you see everywhere - I don't like them very much normally but these broken bits make a good filler:
These are all stones that I find on the beach some of them are quite colourful considering we don't have anything other than slate bits normally:
This is Kalahari Picture stone - it rounds up nicely but has only a matte finish - I think it is slightly softer than normal picture jasper so I may have to revisit these when I know more about them:
These are my pride and joy (yes, I know one or two of them are bit wonky but I'm proud nonetheless!!) - these are my first ever slab-type cuts and shapes and they came out OK - the tigereye in particular shines up nicely. The big square in the middle is a large bit of the green stuff from a picture jasper (can't remember what type) - I bought it at a show and it didn't have any of the "picture" on it so I thought I'd experiment with it:
This was a very thin piece that I cut to try and make a cab but it was too thin for me!!! so i just chucked it and hoped ... about halfway through a little bit of druzy appeared but I like it:
Another bit of agate:
And another:
A Tiger-eye sort of square thing - I tried to bevel the edges but they weren't completely even!!:
A bit of lace:
This is my first ever agate that I found on my local beach - they are not very common and although there were one or two areas of undercutting the shine came out really good:
Some closeups:
This is amethyst lace agate - it is quite difficult to do without fracturing:
Half a thunder-egg - I thought I'd just chuck it in and see how it went - the matrix even took a shine!!:
This was my first ever cab made from some of Rockyone's pet wood - halfway through the vibe process it broke!!!! - still you can sort of see a rounded edge to it!!
An agate nodule half that I threw in as an experiment:
Tiger-eye triangles - I was thinking of earrings but they don't really match very well!!
That's all for now folks!!!
Thanks for looking!! ;D
PS - I'd like to thank agatemaggot and Bikerrandy who gave me tips when I first got my vibe last year and also the lovely Jack from Yorkshire who helped me out last week.
