Hi, all! I've been these days into a trip, for the business, but I also had time to make some rockhounding. Besides, my route was through the Danube gorges (the Romanian/Serbian border) so I was able to take some photos of the spectacular Serbian bank (ours is also great, but more difficult to picture and to look at, as the road goes right under the cliff, I think Zoran could picture it better than me). Zoran, I'm sorry I didn't know my route earlier, eitherway I would have told you to be there and wave each other So, here are a couple of pics with a very interesting geological stratification: I also rockhounded into a place I was before and posted pictures here. The colors of fall came here: The falling leaves made the search a little more difficult, but I still found some rocks. Not much, but pretty. Here's the whole haul : And some close-ups: This is that big one, a jasper with mossy patterns and with an area having an agate layer: Nice colors on this one: A gray agate: A gray agate into a pretty beige + red matrix (no, the red stripes are not agate ) : And, finally, that perfectly round "cannonball", which I can't wait to cut. Especially now, when Sissy (my cat) seems to have "smelled" something interesting inside Thanks for looking, Adrian

Beautiful scenery. I love the folds in the rock you can see in the second picture. In the jasper with the agate piece, what are the little balls in the lower right? Most have seem to have fallen off and left a depression.

I've noticed those little round cavities too, Tony, but I have no idea what are they. Any help in this direction would be great.

Beautiful place and great finds. Those agates are really interesting. I can't wait to see what's inside that round one, but I gotta say it looks pretty cool just the way it is. Sissys a cutie too. Steve

Thanks everyone and thank you Steve (invisibleuser) for the ID. But this strucure seems to be formed not by the inclusions of gas, but by small spheres that are now missing (some of them are still there). Steve (rocklicker), I also am in balance between cutting it or not cutting, but I hope it's something interesting inside and, besides, i think the emispheres would look pretty cool themselves.

Wow, Adrian, nice haul! I can't believe that sphere is actually a rock, it's so round. Hopefully it's not an actual ancient cannonball, and you don't bend your saw on it! That looks like the place you found your big pet wood stump?

Wow, Adrian, nice haul! ... That looks like the place you found your big pet wood stump? Karen, this spot is not far from the place I found the big stump, it's some 40 miles away. This is the spot where I found a black agate and a footprint of a sort of lynx in this spring. Those two spots are close to each other, but unfortunately pretty far from me (about 400 km). Jim, don't worry, I'll cut it and I'll post it whatever it will be inside. But I have to put it in plaster to get a better grip in the saw. Adrian

Adrian I would be willing to bet those small spheres you refer on the surface are actually hollow. I've seen this in many other agates and rocks. ;D Steve

I've seen this in many other agates and rocks. ;D Steve Steve, I sacrificed a sphere and it's not hollow, so it's still a mistery . The spheres could have beeen formed in some hollows that, as you told me above, were firstly hollow gas inclusions. Adrian

Hey, nice agates! It looks like there's quite an assortment there of good material. Too much fun! Your kitty looks sweet too - I have 4 of them myself.
