Here's some cuts from today from the Burro Creek trip. Hope you like them. Steve From the first day's collecting, nice steel grey agate. Dead cow agate (we made that one up, see photos of Burro creek trip for more info). This rock looked boytroidal on the outside and had some cool blueish patterns inside. Closeup. Yellow poppy like agate found at the same place. Most of the other ones were mossy. Closeup

Nice Steve. I think I see my name on one of those yellow poppy slabs. It's written like one of the old concert posters from the Avalon Ballroom.

Good golly what an incredible find that yellow orbicular jasper is! Never seen anything quite like it and it looks solid as can be too. Can't wait to see that puppy cabbed. Amazing how many sites produce orbed forms.....Mel

Ah.. there's that fantastic poppy piece!! Petrified fish eggs maybe? heh I cut the one I found down there. Not nearly as impressive as yours, but it was born at the same place

The eyes are so small and tight. Never seen anything quite like that one before.

Wow Beef, looks like it's the same thing to me. I think one end of the rock looks like that! Dee, did you find any of that where you were? I sure hope. A lot of it looks normal on the outside until you cut it open! Sorry too that I missed saying goodbye. I figures you were rocking somewhere. It was great to meet you. Steve

Very nice!! The yellow "poppy" type agate "may" actually be what is called petrified seed fern! All those tiny orbs are the fernn spores (seeds)! The reason I say this is because it looks just like this specimen found by a friend from Australia: ? connrock

Very cool, looks like you guys must have been further downstream, that agate looks a lot like the mustard colored brecciated stuff that can be found on the hills right next to the "Big Sandy" wash. Did you ever see a sign that said Big Sandy? If you are on the road I'm thinking of, you would of crossed that wash repeatedly. I don't think I have ever found any mossy stuff out there, guess I will have to go back and do some more looking!!!

Steve said they didn't ford the creek so they must not have gone in as far as we did. I have at least one piece that I have hopes for but I've only been able to get a little piece off of it so far -- it is humongous....

We took the first turnout down the dirt road. It probably wasn't even a mile down the road, well before crossing a creek. I need to look at a topo map to figure out where it was because my brain is going in circles. As near as I can remember, it was the first BLM road after we took a right at the "T" in the road at the end of hwy 97 (other direction from Bagdad). Brian might be able to help more. I don't remember a sign that said "Big Sandy". Hope that helps. Steve
