Hello everybody, Today I've polished an end-cut of wood. The outside was not very attractive, but the inside revealed pretty colors, good grain and an interesting carneolic intrusion. This is the piece: The shine: And two close-ups: Thanks for looking, Adrian

Boy Adrian, I can't get over how much your petrified wood looks just like fresh cut stuff. Looks just like some of the dead trees I cut for firewood at the ranch. Great patterns and woodgrain effects.....Mel

Woody Adrian. Mel is right. It looks very fresh. I like it. I expect many wooden cabs soon.

Wow, that's almost like dino bone in that I'd almost hate to cut it further... almost, heh. Fantastic!

That's one fine slab Adrian! Such nice grain to it and wonderful agate veins. You sure slapped a sweet shine on it too!

That is beautiful, I still think it is interesting that the wood retains its characteristics after petrification. Tami

That is one very well preserved and naturally colored petwood slab, great shine too!

Thanks everyone! Mel and Zoran, yes it looks like fresh because of iths grain and also because of the colors. Only the agate veins are revealing its nature. "Pet wood king", KD? Whatch out for Curt, he might consider this statement a plot . Adrian

Adrian, that is a real interesting specimen. Looks like I could just throw it on my lathe and turn it into something. You get the most fantastic shine on these slabs.
