Howdy folks, Just a few new slabs. Thanks for looking....Mel This first is called either Rose Rock or Rose-Eye Jasper depending on who you ask. Sort of a silicified rhyolite that I was told at Quartzite, comes from around Heppner, Oregon near where the green and maroon Spiderweb Jasper comes from. Makes sense because both are very similar in composition. Very hard but most rough tends to have scattered holes where the silica didn't fill everything. These came out real solid. I really love this stuff, Crinoidal Limestone from China. Got this beautiful black matrix stuff from Ron's rocks who seems to have the best quality. I got some at Quartzite too and it was more of a gray background and not nearly as solid and nice. My advice would be avoid the gray and buy only the darkest black matrix stuff you can find. I've been practicing on cabbing the poorer material before I try this good stuff. Here are some 38mm round and 30x40 practice cabs I cut from the lower grade stuff. It's soft so works fast but for that reason it's easy to mess up too. Figure I'm ready for the good stuff soon though....Mel

The first one is a beauty! And the second one has a big density of fossils.

Curt: There's some stuff just as pretty just southwest of San Saba, Texas not that for from you. Comes in black, berry pink, and golden tan matrix and polishes like glass. Just full of giant crinoid stems, coral, bryozoans, breachipods etc. Been to the C. B Lambert Ranch collecting it several times....Mel
