Caution opening wrapped slabs. Heres what happens when your not careful cutting the tape off and paper off of the slabs you recieve. Yesterday Ralph recieved a package from Michael, as he proceeded to unwrap the slabs, first he had to cut the tape, on the fourth one he was cutting open , oops the knife slipped and sliced his thumb. Heres what it looked like after 2 hrs in urgent care, and 7 stitches. Now heres the story hes telling everyone, but its not the truth. He told the dr. that i was after him with a knife and he put his hands up to defend himself and i cut his thumb in the process. It was a good thing he was laughing when he said this or i would be writing this from the Mesa Co. Jail.

Bet he cussed himself for cutting toward him. We all know better but we sometimes do it anyway. Hey, on the bright side at least you know your knives are sharp. ;D Hope he heals fast. it's tough to do anything with a cut thumb.

I see you've got a couple of steri-strips on there too. That same cut on the face would have taken a lot more sutures, so it's a good thing it was only a finger Bet it hurt like a Mother tho----

OMG!!! I'm SO sorry! I just figured you'd be able to rip the paper off of one end and slide the slabs out.
* Note to self: You might want to cut back a bit on the protective packaging. *

I know that was by a knife, but cuts are precisely why I kept my "royal savannah" (a.k.a. 95% plain, green jasper I recieved) hammered shards out of my normal tumble rough, speaking of going thru rocks. It was clear to me they were unsafe after I was done with my sledge, at least for children. And we all know about obsidian. What year is it, and some still swear by it for surgery? Thanks for the wake-up call

Scissors are a great alternative to knives (blunt ended - you know the kind for 2 year olds!) Yeah that's what I use because that picture above would be my hand otherwise...

First and foremost OUCHY But on a serious note- I'm betting that the knife that did that was DULL- A sharp knife will cut through the intended item very safely and smoothly- and little pressure will need to be used. A dull knife will bind and stick- causing the user to resort to the use of excessive force. Please keep your knifes sharp! If you don't know how to sharpen them then contact me and I can help you! Hope our finger heals up fast!

That looks real painful. I sliced the top of my thumb on a professional meat slicer once. The injury itself wasn't so bad, it did need stitches, but the doctoring of the women I was working with was way worse. LOL Most of the time I spent in the emergency room was for the doctor to undo their first aid. I hope he heals quickly.

I know that hurt. Should have used duct tape to close it and keep on going.
