My second batch is done. I started with a mixture of amethyst and citrine. After 6 days of coarse grit, they looked like this After 4 more days of coarse grit, they looked like this Then I did 7 days of fine grit. Next came 7 days of prepolish, 7 days of aluminum oxide 500, and finally 14 days of aluminum oxide polish. There is more shine than this picture shows. I am looking forward to giving some to my children for Christmas.

Beautiful looking batch and looks like you got a great shine on those. You are very brave to take on Amethyst, but man did it pay off! Thanks for the cool step by step photos too. Steve

Those look like they came out really well! I've not yet tried tackling either, but they're on my list.

Very nice batch. Your kids should really enjoy them. Amethyst is my daughters favorite stone. I didn't know it was tought to tumble until I read this thread. I guess I got lucky with what I've done so far.

Steve This is a case of fools going in where angels fear to tread. I didn't know that amethyst was difficult to polish until I already had it going. I did have to remove a few rocks along the way due to chipping and cracking.
