Another piece of the State College Oolitic Chert I posted last year. One of the last pieces I finished before I moved. Gave it for a door prize at the local club two nights before I left town. I tried to do something a little more architectural using two bails and the wood bead. I wish the bead was about 1mm smaller, but I was pleased with the overall look. I brought about 80 lbs of the stuff with me, but some of it is not well silicified, and not all of the ooids have the nice outer rings. I have 4 more finished stones (only I cant find which box one of them got into) to drill and mount for a friend. I'll post photos of them once they are drilled.

Wow, that is cool material & beautifully done. I like the double bail too. I don't think I could have been as generous as you & parted with that one! Is that oolithic chert common from where you got it? Patti

Well, I've given away everything I have made so far, so not to hard to part with - as long as I have a photo. When I make a few bolo and/or boxes, keeping or selling may change. The material is reasonably abundant, but 100ft down. You have a few outcrops and some floaters that come up in farm fields. When a foundation is dug in certain parts of the county, there will be a lot for a while. The stuff I have came from an old rockhound's collection that mostly came from where the parking lot was dug in the 70s for a Wal-Mart. His family has been letting my carry off a few 5gal buckets now and then. Or they did when I lived in PA. Several other guys in the local club have a 100lbs or so. Here is a pic of some cabs a local jeweler has made form some of this guy's slabs: (click for full size)

I think that is a very unnique and stylish pendant Daniel. It reminds me of something Native American. Really Nice. Steve
