Here is my entire batch of obsidian. The top ones are solid black the middle row is, though you can't tell on most of them are transparent, and the bottom row is mahogony obsidian. Tami

All this obsidian is beautiful, but especially the mahogany.

They took about the same amount of time as quartz. 1 week 60/90 1 week 120/220 2 weeks 500 1 week 1000 1 week polish CO & AO The only reason it was in 500 for 2 weeks is because I was so busy with other things that I didn't get around to changing them. Every time I run obsidian I always get great results. I just had enough to do a full batch of only obsidian. next time I start a batch I think I will be doing apache tears. Tami

Very nice batch! I've never cared much for obsidian, but after looking at what you folks on this board have done with it, I must say it's a pretty darn cool rock.

That is a real nice batch. I have several large chunks of mahagony so I will have to give them a tumble one of these days.

Well Tami, come on over for the Richardson Ranch trip we are planning in Oregon this next year. We can stop at Glass Buttes so you can pick up MANY varieties of obsidian. Black, rainbow, midnight lace, mahogany, gold sheen, silver sheen etc. Acres and acres of obsidian thats just laying EVERYWHERE and you are allowed to take 250 lbs. Nice batch by the way. Shannon

Shannon, I would love to go, however, with me having to driving 180 miles round trip every other weekend to take care of my grandfather, and the other weekends are usually full, there is just no way I would be able to go. Thank you for the offer, perhaps when things settle down and my parents retire my family can come up there, we all love to rock hunt especially my disabled sister I take care of. Tami
