Hi all, Randy's first cab made me think about how we probably all keep our first ones as they are special. I know I kept mine. I would like to see photos of everyone's very first cab. Here is mine, a Botswana.... Its easy to see how you progress when you look back at your first cab. Mine, although a pretty stone and a good shine, has a MILLION little teeny tiny flat spots when you look close. When Im bumming about a cab that isnt turning out right, I look back at that one and realize that I AM slowly getting better. Shannon

Hard for me to remember my first as it was like 40 years ago. Actually think I gave the first to a college girl friend. Think one of these is about the oldest I still have though. Think I broke my Genie in on the obsidian. The other is some strange agate from Gem Hill. Sad, but my learning curve is such that I feel I am just as bad at cabbing now as I was then *L*....Mel

Very first from start to finish: I had one or two that never made it past the 220 stage... (Whoops - Hickoryite...and this is where I learned that rocks can still discolor...)

Well here are my first three, they are pretty embarrassing compared to the others here. The shine stinks so I may work on them again. They are adventurine, some local serpentine and quartz rock that I can't remember the name of, and rhodocrosite. They aren't nearly as nice as the others posted here. But then again I'm pretty clueless at this point. Tony M
