If anyone have any hunting sites in these areas, fire away! :)We've finally made "concrete" plans to go back to Montana and Wyoming, end of May into beginning of June. ;D ;D So far we have paid for plane tix into and outof Bozeman. The sketchy plan calls for a loop through Helena, the Garnet and Sapphire Mtns, Yellowstone, Cody... Last time we were there we weren't as rock enamored as we are today :'(and only collected a couple of river rock at Jenny Lake( if that is illegal ;D ;D we must have been near but not actually in Grand Teton NP). We'll get a rockhounding Montana and a rockhounding Wyoming book but could use any tips people may have from other collecting trips, and whether 4WD is a necessity, etc tks csroc

Go from Bozeman to Livingston , then down the the Yellow stone Valley to Gardiner and work your way back to Livingston . There is petrified forest area you can vist with alot of neat pet wood . You can find agates on the river and wood also ! The best agates are in the eastern part of the Yellowstone river 200 miles to the east .Also some agates to be found west of Cody . I haven't done any rock hunting in the Garnets and Sapphire mtns. But i can tell you to take your Gold pan ! and have a rock hammer I hope you enjoy our state .Give a holler if you want more help! Glenn ;D
