As part of a team, I'm going on a business trip to both Hawaii and Taiwan for one week in each location. We're going to be pretty busy, but will have time for some shopping. Does anyone know of any good rock shops or rocks that are only found in these two areas?
Thanks!

what a lucky person to be going to those destinations for business! Hawaii is basically a volcanic chain of islands, so you might get lucky just walking the beach? don't know, never been there myself, but i've heard the black sand is amazing.
i'll bet they have all sorts of good rock in Taiwan, Jade, etc. maybe you should do some research before your trip or let your counterparts know what you'd like to do when in their country, i'm sure they would be more than happy to help!
good luck, Shyhobbit, and HAPPY BRTHDAY!!!

One thing about rocks from the beaches from Hawaii...legend has it that if you take rocks from some of the areas, you will have serious bad luck. The protective spirits of the islands do not like their rocks taken. Many of the park rangers tell stories of getting rocks in the mail with notes of apology for taking the rocks because <insert bad luck here> happened to the taker. www.snopes.com/luck/pele.aspNo clue if its true but thought I'd put that in there for what its worth.

I thought peridot was related to volcanic activity, you might find some in Hawaii.
Tawain probably has everything. I think they do a lot of cutting there. Bring lots of money.
