I think we'll head out to that area for a few days over the holidays. Lot's of ghost towns and old mines (2 of hubby's favourite things). We'll be coming from California coast, through Blythe and then on up towards Prescott. If anyone is familiar with the area, or any place interesting on the way, (particularly collecting areas) please let me know.

Hey Pine, Enjoy AZ, I live in Flagstaff now but I grew up in So. Cal. (Huntington Beach) My website features a few collecting sites in the Wickenburg/Phoenix area. bigarizona.comBanjocreek is in Mesa and is a wealth of info from the threads that I have read of his. There are also 2 really good books out there, Rockhounding Arizona by Gerry Blair Sr. (A nice guy and Flagstaff's police chiefs dad!) and Gem Trails of Arizona.

Oops, thanks for the info folks, but plans have changed, we're gonna wait 'til they have a get together in California in April. We have some repairs to make to the trailer before we use it again and it's just too hectic with Christmas coming up to get everything done before next week. Oh well! We are planning on heading to Quartzsite area toward the end of January, anyone else planning to be there?

She will be shopping and ooh'ing and ahh'ing right next to me. I converted her into a rockhound a long time ago! ;D
I hear there is some hematite to be found near Parker/Lake Havasu north of Quartzsite so I think we may have to investigate that after Quartzsite and on the way home. We'll get some good pics for RTH if we do!!!

The Quartzite experience is more than a month long, but I'll be there a couple of times if I can.
