Hi All I have not posted for some time, but I am going to the Munich Beer Fest on the 28th Sept, and my good friend Jack from Yorkshire tells me there is a lady (mom2olivia) who knows where to dig agates in Germany, so if its not too far from where the wife and I will be staying, we will be moving around as my wife has family in Germany, who we will be visiting. We will be in Germany for 12 days altogether. Hoping somebody can help? HT Bob UK.

I know this is a cheater's approach, but once in a while you can find a location that is still viable: www.mindat.org/show.php?id=51&ld=1&pho=Germany * Baden-Württemberg o Black Forest + Baden-Baden # Iberg * Iberg quarry S. Weiss: "Mineralfundstellen, Deutschland West", Weise (Munich), 1990 # Leisberg Mt. * Peter quarry No reference listed + Lahr # Schweighausen * Geisberg Quarry Weiss: "Mineralfundstellen, Deutschland West", 1990 * Hühnersedel K. Walenta: "Die Mineralien des Schwarzwaldes", Weise (Munich), 1992 + Oberkirch # Oppenau * Lierbach valley S. Weiss: "Mineralfundstellen, Deutschland West", Weise (Munich), 1990 + Sulzburg # Bad Sulzburg Lapis 1980(3), 26-27 * Bavaria... ... the list goes on for a few pages....

most famous area for agates is Idar-Oberstein in Germany, where agate has been collected since 1548. Have fun and be safe
