Hey folks, I have updated one of my rockhounding sites on my other website; here is the link; Click hereYou can find lots of Druzy Chalcedony and Calcite in this area. Plus lots of piece of a White/gray/pink lace agate. Sometimes it looks to have plumes or similar inclusions. There are lots of photos for this site which I updated right before the new year. Topo and satellite map too! I also placed a Geocache in this area too for anyone who likes that sport. This is an easy site to find, but it is a steady hike. There is 4x4 access, but only if you have the permit issued by Tonto Ranger station in Mesa or Phoenix. Please let me know if you got any questions about this content. Some of the best white druzy can be found in this area so check it out! ;D[/url]

What great timing! I have a friend at work that has some gold mine claims in the area and is planning to visit in April. She mentioned Apache Jct. as one of their stops. I've been looking for information for her, as she plans on getting me some rock while she is out there and wants to know what to look for. She is spending the majority of her time around Superstition Mt. and the Lost Dutchman area.

What a marvelous job you did on that web page, Shain. That is the most thorough set of information I have ever seen for a collecting site. My winter location is right on Idaho Road a half mile from Apache Trail, so close I can almost see the buttes from here. But I have so many other things to do, I don't know when I'll be able to get over there and check it out. I certainly hope to do so, if not this winter, then maybe next. That is nice looking agate. Should cut and tumble well. Wonder how long before the area gets cleaned out.
I might add a short caution here to anyone who might take you up on collecting there. This is desert country; carry water if you are planning to be out more than a couple hours. And watch where you put your hands near the ground. There are a few scorpions in the area, and they often hide out under loose rock and detritus. If you are tempted to go wandering off over a couple of ridges looking for more rock you may discover some. But you may also become disoriented and have big trouble finding your way back. This is like badlands anywhere; it all starts looking the same after awhile. There is no perceptable earth gradient for down drainage escape. So be aware that it is not too difficult to become lost.
Thanks for posting this, Shain. You made it as easy as falling off a rock.

Cool Guys, make sure you post what you find. I am going to go up there this afternoon. I wonder that too Ken, its the nature of rockhounding. But that also why i posted this site, its gonna have a very hard time getting a claim on it. Mainly becasue its just agate. And the area though it Tonto Forest, no machinery can dig it. Plus it is rather off the beetin track. And a nice little hike uphill.
Shortly past the frist part of the collecting area, its can be very disorienting once you start exploring the area. But most of the collecting area, you can still see the highway 1/2mile away. Plus the view East in the Supps in awesome. I will post any good finds after this afternooons trip.
