Here is one I cut in half. The Lorenzo Arroyo is west of I 25 between San Acacia and Lemiter. Go west up the arroyo until it ends. It is very sandy so you need an ATV or 4 x 4. At the dead end you will see a large slope with a grayish colored soil. Dig in the soil and find lots of good Chalcedony. Here is a picture from the top of the slope. Here is some pics of the drive in. It is a wonderful canyon.

Beautiful Landscape and looks like awesome rockhounding country. Looks like you've found some nice specimens...killer blue! How far is this from Albequerque?? I'll be down in that area in a few months for work, and I might as well start planning some side trips. Steve

Onyx-
What a great looking area you've got there. There's nothing like canyon country - so much to explore and discover.

Beautiful chalcedony and beautiful rockhounding area. Totally different from any place where I am rockhounding. I bet you had very nice time. I would like to see more pics of your rockhounding results (I see nice pile laying behind). Zoran

This spot was nice. I found it in the Gem trails of New Mexico book. I thought when I got there it would be all picked out. Nope there was some good pieces on the surface and after digging a little the stone is everywhere some even in little round balls. I want to go back with my pick. Who knows there could be a very large chunk in there.

Hey Nmonyx, if you need a partner at anytime to go out there, just give me a holler. I'm done the road in El Paso, and maybe we could meet out there and do some collecting.

El Paso is Good. Do you ever try to find any Mimbres Valley Apache Rhyolite in Deming?

I haven't done any serious collecting in Deming. I just go to the rock show in March, though this time I'll skip it due to the WWR Blitz.

Never saw a canyon like that; that is way cool. I would go just to look at the canyon. The blue agate are rocks on the cake:)
