Hi all! I know some of you live near me so I was wondering where you all go hounding in this area. I need to get outdoors in this great weather!! Any info is greatly appreciated.

Hi Raquel, Not sure where your at but I live in South San Jose. I don't do any hunting in the area and my hunts are in Big Sur. I have heard some on this board look in the Anderson reservoir area. I have seen good jasper also in the Santa Cruz mountains near Lexington. Hope this helps. You might want to p.m "stoner" or "redwoodrocks" I know they do a fair amount of hunting in the area and could help better.

Hi Raquel, I go to Anderson dam and collect jaspers and a few agates, and also along Hicks Rd in San Jose. Send me a PM and we can talk more about the area you live in and some other possible areas to collect. I live in San Jose, about 25 minutes from Morgan Hill.

Late comer, I am, to this group and message. I live in Los Gatos mountains. Have often thought about scouting around Lexington. When I worked outdoors in Los Altos I often looked around and found tiny chips of mostly-red Franciscan formation jasper. But back to the topic of this message:
I am the field trip co-chair (w/ my Wife) for Santa Cruz Mineral & Gem Society and the field trip committee chair for Santa Clara Valley Gem & Mineral Society. The two clubs are sponsoring a trip to Morgan Hill for Poppy Jasper, on a private ranch, in March 2008. PM me for details if you are interested.

Interested in attending a field trip when I stop over in San Jose area during my trip northward to Washington state. Won't be leaving until April 20th, but would love to hunt for some Poppy Jasper. Email me on trips scheduled for May.
