the location for the scenic agate I posted in the photo section is described below: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=Pictures&action=display&thread=1182054351My friend writes: In case anyone at the Show or on the Tumbler's Board is interested, the Bay of Fundy Agates were collected on the north shore of Cape Split in Nova Scotia.
Here's a link to a Nova Scotia Tourism website:

You take the "right" trail to find the coves on the north shore of Cape Split. Hiking is very strenuous & trails are NOT MARKED, but the effort is worth it. Probably a good place to take a GPS so you can find your way out...... we got a little bit lost. BE VERY CAREFUL OF TIDES..... this area has ~ 20+ feet tidal flux and you can definitely get in trouble if you're not careful.
There is a named cove, "Amethyst Cove", in this area that Linda and I tried to find, but didn't find it. Someone (fishermen ?) has painted numbers to identify the coves on the north shore of Cape Split, probably to help in navigation...... most of the good stuff that we found was in Coves #3 and #4. There is also some interesting columnar basalt on the west flank of Cove #4...... I've got lots of pix from our trip, in case you're interested.
