So I'm over here doing some audio work on the new facility being built for some untold billions of yuan, we walk in and the first thing I notice is that the floors aren't your typical marble, no they have gone and cut stone from different areas in China and paved the floor with the most amazing lace travertines, brecciated jaspers and whatnot- I'll post some pictures later, but this place is simply UNBELIEVABLE.....

So under this titanium skinned egg (the published cost is 5 billion Yuan, just short of a billion dollars, and given delays and overruns I bets its a lot more than that,) there are three venues, a concert hall, a theater and in the middle- an opera house. I've been in many of the finest such facilities in the world, Sydney, Montreux, etc, but this one is probably the most amazing I've seen. And different floors and sections are paved with stuff that I'd be happy to cut cabs from; Get a load of this stuff! Al I managed to get away with was a small piece of granite from the outside sidewalk, but I think I'll cab a piece of that up just to say I've got a stone from China's NGT.

Hadn't seen that building in any of our architectural magazines here at work. Really interesting. Those floors would make me walk into people, too busy looking down to look up.

Awesome building. It seems to be a real trend to build a building inside a building. The Kimmel Center in Philadelphia is done the same way with 2 concert halls inside a glass enclosure. I got to work on that building a bit.
