does anyone have any idea if there are any minerals to be found in the Delaware Water Gap State Park in New Jersey?
If not, any other locations in New Jersey that are good for collecting? (preferably free ... I am broke)

Have you gone up to the Franklin Sterling area yet? Lots and lots of fluorescent minerals come from there. There are 2 museums here are some links sterlinghillminingmuseum.org/www.franklinmineralmuseum.com/The one lets you go through their dump pile at any time for a minimal fee, its pretty picked over though. The other only allows collecting once a month but adds fresh tailings to the pile often. I haven't been there yet but hope to get up that way sometime soon. Here is a link for the copper mines in the Delaware Water Gap park. 3dparks.wr.usgs.gov/nyc/parks/loc33.htmNo collecting is allowed in the park though. I understand that much of North Jersey has some great gemstones, you just need to tunnel under the shopping malls and housing developments to find them. Tony M

i didn't even think about not being able to collect ... i really wanted to do some overnight camping and thought i might be able to find some good stuff while i was there.
i haven't checked out the franklin area yet, but I definitely want to do that as well.
thanks for the sites, i'll let you know how it goes.
