Rock & Gem magazine had an article a couple of months back about specimens (I can't remember what the rock was) that can be found at a railroad tunnel. I've read that there used to be great collecting in northern Jersey. Of course now its all under buildings and macadam.

Hi, I just moved to Glassboro this year. If you do any rock hunting, do you go alone, just a few people, or in a group??? I go along the Delaware river on the PA side behind the airport. Some real great stones back there! I go my self, I don't know any body else that polishes stones. Lew

lewkal, Philadelphia has a rock & mineral club. I know they organize some trips and such but I have never gone to any of their meetings. There is the Tuscarora Lapidary Society that is in Media PA. They have a shop and do different events throughout the year mostly centered around making jewelry.
