this is the first place that i collected at. it was some rocks to tumble. it was moonstone Beach in San Simeon calif. there is a lot of jaspers a lot of it is like stone canyon jasper a plus is the wave action has done a lot of the work for you. you can start at a 400 grit. i ask a park ranger about collecting he said if you don't get greedy. not a big problem. there is camping right there mike

I've seen some interesting jaspers come from that area and other nearby beaches & ocean/river meeting points. Not too far north is Jade Cove also.

Yeah, we have those brecciated jaspers down here on our rockier Ventura beaches too. One of my first rock hunts was along the bluffs just north of the other Pebble Beach ( not the golf course one but the one south of Half Moon Bay. Beautiful vesicular basalt there filled with nice agate nodules with white to yellow banded patterns. They called them moonstones back then. Filled my pockets while I fished. great fun!....mel
