I'm a 43 year old computer geek that learned to rock hound 13 years ago along with my wife. All of our quarry adventures are in western Maine. We enjoy crawling through tailings at pegmatite quarries looking for crystals, usually amethyst, tourmaline, garnets and quartz up here. We have a small collection of specimens we've collected over the years.

Good morning Allagash My name Is Brent, I live in New Sharon. Went to Jasper Beach three weeks ago get 2 buckets of rocks. Have you polished yours yet? I got some from the cliffs on the right. nice and smooth, so I did a prepolish then polished. They didn't polish, just have a dull finish. I'll work on them some more. Do you know of any place in this state to get any tumbling supplies? Thank you Brent

Hey granny...don't know how you came up with this post from 2 years ago... ;D but I don't think allagash is an active member anymore.
At any rate...there's tons of other people to talk to & learn from!
Welcome!

Welcome, Brent. No driving required. Get those tumbling supplies delivered to the front door: www.therockshed.com/Great people to deal with, and you'll get it in two or three days. USPS flat rate box is only $8.10 - it'll hold a lot of grit or rocks or whatever. Rich
