Hey all!
I found this site while looking for rough rock to tumble. I started tumbling just this past January and have found it to be quite addictive. Nice to know there are other loonies out there like me.....heehee.
i've been looking for a particular stone that i acquired in a "tumbling mix" and have no clue of what it is....i don't have a photo of it just yet but when i do i will try and post it. it's a very pretty gold and brown, almost like a lace agate...and i want MORE!
i'm into jewelry making and have always loved natural stone. Lookink forward to interacting in here and getting some good pointers and tips!
Regards, KD

thanks everyone for the warm welcome to this site...i am starting to understand that you don't have to be crazy to get along in here, but it sure don't hurt none!
i very nearly bought a new tumbler on the net last night but the web site had some sort of internal error and i could not place the order....probably a good thing as i should do some research on new units before i commit.
(the voice of reason?) NOT!

Research? Who needs stingin research when you have us? ;D Seriously, I think between the group of us we own every type of tumbler available on the market. If you need pros and cons just ask. BTW, what were you looking to purchase?

well, i was looking at the Rockshed's stuff and trying to decide if a 6 pound was cool or (greed, greed) i really could drive a 15 pounder....space is an issue. so is cost. i think i'll err on the side of caution and seriously consider the six and additional barrels as i have found to be so important.....lordy this site is phenomenal!
i'll be posting some pics soon....may need some help doing that, i have nothing that even compares to stuff you all have in here, but, in for penny, in for a pound...and you'll all look anyway....HA!
the lunatic is in my head. KD

Hi KD, the rockshed has pretty good prices and he's a great guy to deal with. Personaly I like the QT66. I run my rough and medium in an old Thumler Model B and then use the two barrels on the QT66 to do pre-polish and polish and you can always get a 12 # barrel and run that on the QT66 by itself. I have yet to buy a new tumbler. I got my Model B at a rodk show, very used, for $30 cleaned it up and it's been running fine for me. My QT66 I bought on ebay for $100 including shipping and one of the barrels was brand new. Of cource the easiest and quickest way to get what you want is to just buy it brand new. If money is not to much an issue. Hope this helps. Bob

PS, KD the easiest way I have found to post pics here is to sign up with photobucket.com. It's free and fairly easy. Sandsman turned me on to that site and I was amazed how easy it was. Bob
