I am from Poplarville, Ms. and am new to tumbling. I have been a life long collector of rocks and am just now getting into the serious collecting and will soon be learning how to tumble. I recently went to Hot Springs, Ar and did some crystal mining. We were only at the mine for less than 2 hours but we managed to collect 2 - 5 gallon buckets of crystals. Now I am truly hooked. ;D I am taking my wife and son back to Hot Springs to mine for a whole weekend. Guess I will find out how much my Nissan truck will carry. My 9 y/o son also has a passion for rocks, so I have ordered a tumbler and will see how deep into it I will get. I have been searching for information on tumbling and polishing and came across this site. I have learned a lot by just reading the posts on different topics. I guess I am just another rockhound hooked for life. Glad to be a part of this group of informative, helpful and rock loving people...

Hello KD, Thanks for the welcome. I have become addicted to this site. Now I want to travel all over to find some of these wonderful hauls yall are bringing in. There are not alot of rocks to be found around here other than the gravel pits. I certainly enjoy the humor in the posts. I think I have found "rock heaven". Hope to become a regular... Foreverdown

Hi! Welcome to the forum! I'm a newbie too and you will find the nicest people here and they are all so helpful. Sounds like you had a blast picking crystals, wish I had a place to get them.

Hi FD, and welcome to the board. I went crystal mining several years ago in Arkansas. It wasn't too far from Hot Springs. It was in a little town called Mt Ida. We had a great time and brought back a whole lot of crystals. It took me almost a month to get them all cleaned up but once all the rust was off they were beautiful. Have fun on the board and post some pics of your crystals when you get them cleaned up.
