Hello I saw this site and I thought I would sign up. I found a lot of great things on here that answered many of my questions. I just started tumbling rocks(my first time) I like to go Hiking,Camping,Fishing and for my first time I will be going Hunting this year. Not sure how well I will do. I have a great husband and 4 sometimes great kids, 2 dogs one is a Great Pyrenees(Orion) and the other is a LabX mixed with Pit(Jade), 1snake for the oldest boy and 2 kittens and 2 older cats. We live in Montana, unfortunatly. I am not a snow person. I would rather live in Arizona back home. Well not really shure what else to say but HELLO ALL.

Welcome Vanessa. When it comes to outdoor activities, Montana is a great place to be! Here in Michigan, I tend to spend my summertime outdoors. That's when I do my rock collecting. By the time winter gets here, I have a large stockpile of rocks to work on during the winter. Ron

Hello there Montana,
Kansas here.
You sure do live in one great State and there is all kinds of rock collecting sites for you to explore.
Some of the most beautiful agates in the world come from Montana. They are the Dendritic Agates, also known as Montana Dendritic Agates.
These agates can contain many fascinating nature scenes in them; trees, birds, ferns, reflected shorelines with trees in the background. They are highly collectable and the really scenic stones, comand quite a premium.
Welcome to the board, if you have any questions about tumbling rocks ... there are a lot of very knowledgeable people in this forum, that can help with any question you might have.
Have a great day,
John

Hello all again. I hav not been on in a wile but I thought since I had the time tonight I would see how everyone is doing. Well I live in the Missoula area. The rocks I'm Tumbling are Garnets, Smoky Quarts, Rosy Quarts and Amathests. I did not believe a friend of mine who went camping with us when we found our rocks the first time, he told me that we had found Garnets. I took them to a mineral show and asked around and everyone I talked to said they were really good Garnets and they would look really good for Jewlery. So we are tumbling them right know, so we will see what they look like when their done. I tried to take a picture of them with my Poloriod and for some reason it does not want to work. They keep coming out black and white, so i gave up on it untill I get myself a new camera.
The snow, ohhh I hate it. My first year here was 4 years ago and I had to take my husband to work and fresh snow just fell. It was about 2 or 3 feet of snow for my first time and well I was doing 5 miles an hour, it was bumper to bumper and I slowly pushed on the break and I started sliding into a brick wall. All I could think of was " OHHH Well At Least Im Hitting A wall Instead Of A Car" still had Arizona plates on an Oldsmobile and a man, in a Dodge Truck stayed behind me making sure I was able to get out of the snow(no snow tires). And on top of that I had all 4 kids with me screamming. Well I should prob. go. Thanks and what are Dendritic Agates?? Thank all Bye

welcome vanessa! i love snow but that's because i live where we never get it and if we do it's usually gone within a day. i would just have "0" clue what it would be like to have to function on a daily basis with snow. we don't function when it snows here - everything closes and we stay inside or play in the snow. lots of bumper car action goes on and since everything closes the only purpose they could have for getting on the road was to play bumper cars.
