Hi--It is Aud again. Is there a trick to opening a Lortone tumbler??
The directions suggest using a large washer to pry off the metal lid--and that will pull the inner lid out of the drum. Although this works, it is VERY hard to do, takes a long time and is "eating up" the edges terribly.
Thank you for your help on other amateur topics.

Hi Aud,

Welcome to the board!

Are you removing the knurled nut and washer that's on top of the barrel lid before you pry? If not, you must remove them FIRST. Then pry off the outer lid, leaving the inner lid still in the barrel.

I have yet to use the washer to remove the outer lid. I just use my fingertips, slowly working around the lid until it comes off.

BTW, what size barrel do you have?

Greetings All,

I just use the washer to pry off the metal lid, yes it wears the edges a bit but hey, it's just a washer, no big deal. And no broken fingernails. As for the inner lid I just pull away the outer edges of the barrel from it until it's loose.
