my daughter and i share the same interest in rocks and fossils, for her 5th birthday her grandmother bought her one of those scholastic tumblers and today we cleaned our first batch i was really suprised how well they turned out ,but i will be keeping my eye out for a better one after one batch the barrel has some wear on the ends ,and after all the good info on this site i see the need for better equipment, being just a hobby i was looking at the single three pound tumblers with extra barrels for the four stages, thanks for all the helpful advice. ;D

Hi Porkchop and little one. That's so neat to hear that your doing this with your daughter. Great way to teach her to enjoy the outdoors and that you can find a "gem" of your own, even in driveway gravel. Cher

Hi Porkchop and daughter , I too welcome you warmly to this great board.
your trip reminds me of when my kids were still little.
We used to live on the North Island then and climbed Mt Te Aroha of 900 meters.
There were mine tailings from the gold mine where we would find our very own (fools) GOLD !!!!
That's now about 28-30 years ago Wow time DOES fly
