Just wanted to introduce myself, while I am thinking about it....tend to be a lurker, or just jump in, and never really post an introduction.
My name is Tamie, and I am a jewelry designer. I recently was bitten by the chain maille bug, and started bugging hubby for a tumbler, to polished the rings I have been making. Well, this morning, I opened....a rock tumbler! Funny thing, DH never mentioned it, and my SIL gifted it to me! Fate? Destiny? Hmmmmmm ;D So, I pull out these rocks, and immediately was brought back to my childhood..oh, sooo many years ago
and all the pretty rocks I collected, and the tumbled ones I always begged my folks to buy me from the gift shops traveling across the country! So, total newbie, yep, sure am! I can tell, this is gonna be another time-sucker, as Jeff, the DH calls my "hobbies"....okay.. OBSESSIONS! LOL! I have spent 4 hours looking for all the info I can about this wonderful hobby, and thrilled that I will be able to do even more wire wrapping! I will have tons of questions, but will do lots of reading, because I am sure I will find a lot of my questions already answered! Already dragged out my Rio catalog, and have the grit page bookmarked! Plan to post to the bulk board I belong to about setting up a buy for the grits, and pellets...LOL!
I do have one question.....suppose I was interested in drilling the stones? Is it the same as drilling glass, with a diamond bit, under water? Sorry if this has been asked and answered already!
