I'm from Canada, the Ottawa region. I've been eyeing the tumbler in the Toy store for a while, and I got it for Christmas as well as the refill kit. I'm a Jane of all trade and a master of almost none. I dabble in a bit of everything. I see something that interests me and I dive in head first. I do watercolors, oil paints, sewing, needlepoint, decorating, I have the woodburning kit, candlemaking & soap making. I love the Sims 2 PC game and play when I can. I've lately been doing quite a bit of beading and wirework on the wire jig. I've sold a few pieces to family and given some to friends. I'm rather proud, and wish I could REALLY sell some pieces instead of selling them for the cost of materials...
Rock tumbling... right *getting back on track* I did one batch of rocks in my kiddy tumbler, and was rather proud of some of them, then I saw what was on this site and got quite sad I had a batch of stones that came with the tumbler and those were okay, but were pretty much the same kind, they're kind of a yellowy brown color but quite smooth, not as smooth as those on here, but for a newbie, quite an accomplishment specially since I don't think i waited the entire amount of time required
I put in the refill batch (some of them at least and put in a whole bunch of stones that came from my mom's driveway - opaque white w/green "veins" and some pink colored ones - I honestly have no idea what any of them are, except for the amethyst chips that came with the package). I'm hoping to be able to wait the entire time for this current batch and if I like what I get, I may ask my father to make me a tumbler from scratch (if anyone can he can... he can do anything, he's my dad!). I'll just have to find a barrel to tumble them in that I can buy or make - any suggestions???
I'm looking forward to checking back here quite often to see what I may be able to accomplish with a better tumbler.....
