Hi was hopeing to get a photo up of my saw for you to see ???Well i aint no welder / turner / or engeneer solve one problem get onother just before i think im on the last stage then back to the bloody start.Just as well my pal likes me as i have cost him loads of grinding disks drills,coffe tea , power,material,cutting tools,lots of daft questions&me for 2 weeks (to much ideas, no brain to achive them)1 bottle for mig welder,1 for oxi accetaline,1 semi broken lathe. IT started a few weeks back finaly got a dremil but no drill stand had to buy another make no dremil ,well it would not fit so i tried to get it to fit ::)broke it in 5 mins doing what i was told not to so now its held on with a big tye wrap will it still work.What do you think of pals chop he is building & he is making all the parts he can himself.will add more later burnet out. billy.d

What i was trying to do was make 2 saws one for 8 & 6 inch blades to sit on the board that has 2 revolving plates one polish one grit.as the shed is only 3feet wide and i can fit in with the door shut by a few inches,cant wait to finnish it but thats the problem rushing on and not cheking things trying to use old bearings then finding out after makeing shaft that there was play back to start.And finding out cant get same size have to start makeing new shaft, brackets .it has been soul destroying but everything ok now only the shaft to turn down will take my time now.Hope this aint boreing the pants of you all. billyd

sandsman1 cheers i wish i had how do you say it big cahonnies hope you get the meaning canny spell,olso dont know if can swear best not as i do enough of that at home ;D still rubbish on the lathe on try number 4 now but only failed on last bit best and nearest as yet next time its cold as hell in his garage and a walk of 2 miles, moan, moan, moan, afy good at that though. billyd

YUP failed yet again on machineing the shaft,on the last bearing seat does any one know if i can use a brass or copper bush? as this will let me know if i can build saw or go and get another bit of steel. billyd

sorry, Billyd, i don't know nothing about bearings, but my gut reaction would be steel.
copper and brass is like soft, like sodalite and jade on the MOH. metal is new to me tho, so i don't know squat.
i'm a yuppie know-nothing, just ask around.

ta kd dont know a lot myself ,but if i try again you never know its just shit getting so far then back to the start.I cant stop as the saw blades are begging to cut some agates have picked plenty to cut so here's to the next go billyd

billyd you can prob use a brass or bronze bushing just hit it with some oil now and then should last awile,, this way you can get started cuttin and keep lookin around for a piece of steel --- if your just useing it to take up space on the arbor so the bearing will fit on the shaft it will be fine because the bearing will do all the work that will just be a spacer

braw sandsman1 will give it a try as well scunnard with machineing no to the welding bit again still trying to make bearing housing so they dont move about,but dont want to weld with bearing in housing incase i fry the thing. cheers for advice . billyd

Made the new shaft but then bent it putting threads on it never shocked me one bit ,so pal got me steel from his work and back to lathe did next shaft broke 2 thread dies(by being stupid )bent that one to. Made shaft for both saws then took them to old work place someone will do it on sat so heres hopeing i didnot bend them when machining them if this fail's will have to get cheap tile saw billyd
