Hey there Tinman - welcome aboard!
Not sure if this rule applies here on this board, (someone can correct me if I'm wrong or if I stuck my foot in my mouth) but text in caps is really hard to read - some people interpret it as shouting, but I just think it's harder to read.
PS: I can, however, feel you excitement in your post! - I'm sure you'll enjoy this cozy place, and your sure to find any help you need!

Hi Tinman Welcome to the forum. My kids love the rocks too, I had my seven year old helping me recharge the barrel at the weekend and picking out the bits that were ready to move on. He also staked his claim on a couple of pieces that he wants when they are finished !

Hi Tinman, I'm a newbie here too, but this looks like it's going to be lots of fun. Sounds like you have a good start for a rock club. What a great way for the family to spend time together. Almost all of our vacations when our three boys were home were trying to follow directions in some gem trails book or one of the Rock and Gem, Gem and Mineral, Lapidary Journal, etc magazines. We've ended up some really strange places, but brought home some great treasures as well as memories. Tell your navy son many thanks for watching out for us. I appreciate the sacrifices our soldiers and sailors make.

Hi Tinman! I'm pretty new here too, but I'm getting lots of great info and seeing great rocks. I moved away from Washington a couple of months ago and truly miss the great rocks that can be found on the beaches there. I'm sure the rocks that your son sends will wonderful. I got some of my best rocks when I lived in Oak Harbor. I have 3 sons, 4, 12, and 14. My younger 2 are my junior rock hounds. They loved beachcombing and bringing home treasures. ;D Now we'll have to start hunting rocks along the river where I live now, since there is no saltwater beach here on the high plains of NE Colorado. haha

Hi Tinman family , welcome all to this great disease of rockhounding . I just wish I had had time to start it earlier . I have 6 kids and all but one have brought me rocks to tumble or cut and yes it is great to see the smiley faces once the polish is done. They have all grown up now.
enjoy
Jack
