Hi there. One of the people from the Rock club that I joined told me to come here, so here I am Anyway, I'm new to the whole rock experience and get a bit too excited over stuff that I see sometimes.......LOL Moved to New Mexico in January and until then wasn't really too interested in rocks. So I found a few pieces of quartz locally but don't really know where to go to find anything really cool but then again just about anything I find with some color in it is cool to me......hehehe Just got myself a little set-up a couple of days ago where I can grind, sand and polish my stones now so that's pretty exciting. Took my awhile to align the motor and everything though to get it all running right. Well, enough rambling. Glad to be here Susan aka Flowoxsgarden

thanks you guys
Actually we are going on a trip to Belen tomorrow and from what I'm told there is Pet Wood and Obsidian there, not sure what else. It would be cool though if I find stuff and can trade for other stuff........I like the idea of that
Only bad thing is we're going out there in the desert when it's supposed to be 100+ degrees tomorrow. I'm taking lots of ice and water in my cooler........LOL

i dont know how big your cooler is but when i usta go fishing for the day i would fill one or two gallon plastic milk jugs and freez them the night befor and it would keep my lunch cold all day and as it melted i would have ice cold drinking water also -- if you have a small cooler just doit with smaller plastic bottles just leave one out of the freezer and put it in with the frozen ones in the cooler-- that will give you one to drink will you wait for the other ones to melt
and good luck tomorrow

I have a pretty good sized cooler and was going to freeze some water in those 64oz gatorade bottles plus I got me some RO ice to throw in there and I have a camel pack to put on my back for water so I think I'm set for water..........LOL It's going to be an experience though being in the heat for that long when you're not used to it

maybe someone can tell me of some good spots to go to with some directions........LOL the rock club only goes once a month and I get pretty bored the rest of the time. At least now until I find a bunch of stuff, then I'll have my work cut out for me to get them all ground, sanded, and polished......LOL Do wish I had a rock tumbler though I'll get one sooner or later

Hi Susan!
Sorry I didn't welcome you sooner. I don't know much about New Mexco, except one of my mom's sisters moved there so she could train her horses for endurance rides year round. I'd love to go visit her to check out the rocks she has around her property. ;D
Have fun with addictive hobby. Just pick up whatever rocks you see on the ground that strikes your fancy, that's what I did when I moved to the high plains of CO.
