HI THERE YALL! I AM FINALLY CLOSE TO THE END OF MY CANCER TREATMENTS AND CLOSER TO DOING SOME SERIOUS ROCK HUNTING AND A TUMBLING! I THOUGHT THAT MY FIRST BATCH WOULD NEVER GET DONE,,,IMPATIENT SOUL THAT I CAN BE SOMETIMES, BUT WHEN THEY REACHED THEIR FINAL STAGE, I FELL IN LOVE WITH ALL OF IT AND WITH EVERY LITTLE ROCK. I SPEND HOURS ON THE BEACHES IN NO. CALIF. AND ALWAYS IN NEED OF A BIGGER BUCKET WHEN I'M DONE! NOW I NEED SOME ADVICE ON WHICH BOOK WOULD BE AFFORDABLE TO ME AND TEACH ME THE DIFFERENCES IN THE ROCKS, HARD, SOFT, ETC. I NEVER EVER PICTURED SO MANY DIFFERENT LAYERS IN ONE ROCK, ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. NOW I HAVE TO GET SERIOUS A FINALLY LEARN HOW TO WIRE WRAP SOME OF THESE GEMS I'M CREATED. ANYONE WITH ANY TIPS FOR ME, PLEASE DO REPLY, I'M A THIRSTY FOR ALL THIS KNOWLEDGE, AND I'M 50 YRS OLD! MERCY MARIE, NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN! THANKS TO ALL FOR BEING HERE FOR ME WHEN I NEED YOU. SINCERELY, TOMMYE

here i just found this i dont know if its the same one but you can make your own mohs tester to take with you or use at home checkit out
Hardness of some other items:
2.5 Fingernail (will scratch 1-2 hardness) 2.5–3 Gold, Silver 3 Copper penny 4-4.5 Platinum 4.5 Iron 5.5 Knife blade 6-7 Glass 6.5 Iron pyrite 7+ Hardened steel file
heres another one
GeoMan's Field Hardness Kit Hardness Item Comments 2.5 Fingernail We all have 10 of these to wear out before taking off our shoes. 3.5 Penny Sometimes all we have left. 4.5 Knife The hardness of a blade can vary wildly depending on the quality of your knife. Check yours before going into the field so you'll know. 5.5 Glass There's usually a chunk of glass available. 7 Quartz A piece of quartz can be found almost everywhere.
