Hi fellow Rockhounders, My name is Steve Holmes, and I just moved to Oregon, from Utah. Veneta Oregon to be exact. I just happened onto this forum, and have been busy reading posts the last few days! I think I'd have to spend a few months reading them all, but I look forward to it. It sounds like this is a heck of a good group of people, with lots of great pics and info going around. My obssesion with rocks took me over about 2 years ago, and I am totally hooked! I finally bought a tumbler about 6 months ago, and it's been running non-stop! Of course, I'm still learning plenty, and haven't gotten it down yet, but with all the help here, I might be half as good as some of you. I'm excited to get to know all of you, and if any of you are near Veneta, you're always welcome to stop in! Since I've been here, I've hunted petrified wood at Lookout Point Res, Hampton Buttes and collected quite a few agates on the coast. Lots of good rocks from Utah, and I am really getting interested in fluoresence! That's enough for now, but once again, I'm Glad to be Here

Well Thanks for the welcome! I was in Alamogordo last year, working on the new Lowes that just got built. I didn't have anytime to do any rockhounding, but did see a few rattlesnakes at the old Rattlesnake ranch Steve

Thanks to all of your WELCOMES! My wife already knows I'm a rock addict. I come home from work, look at my rocks, talk to my rocks, then I spend the rest of the night reading everything about rocks. Good thing my wife and girls love their dad! II hope everyone here has a nice Memorial Day, and wherever your travels take you, that you may return Safely! Steve

I work in Springfield. We should hook up and do some rockhounding sometime. I'm still learning to Tumble, and still learning new things. One of these days I'll get it right....that's after I learn PATIENCE> Stop in Veneta when you're down in this area! I live right off Hunter Rd, on Pine St. TTYS Steve

Steve-
How long did you live in Utah and where did you live? Where were your favorite places to collect? I've been having fun down by the San Rafael Swell and Green River. I'm finding that just about anywhere I go, there's usally some cool treasures.
Welcome aboard!!!

Gaetz, I grew up in Utah and been there my whole life...35 years. I grew up in a small town in Northern Utah...Willard! There's too many great places to go and find rocks in Utah. I enjoy Topaz area, Geode Beds,Gold Hill is fantastic, and lots of cool mines up North. I think Utah has been beckoning back....may be back sooner than I expected. Later Steve

Steve-
Never been to Gold Hill. I'll have to look it up and see what it's all about. I'm interested in heading out to Dugway one of these days. Sounds like a lot of fun.
Well take it easy.
