Wow, this site is awesome! Im a college student and fraternity chap that just only got into this hobbie about 4-5 months ago. I must be honest though, most stones come out nice, but im COO COO for emeralds. King of them you could say, for i have about 3 lbs that have yet seen the inside of the tumbling doom that awaits them. 2.5 lbs tumbling now for the 3rd week in course. And another 4 lbs on hold for order. Call me crazy but there is nothing like holding a great deal of emeralds in your hand and just be overwhelmed with joy and happiness. I am interested in one day heating them and cutting them myself, if anyone knows anything about it or has a website for me to read up on it....that would be nice. Bob

Welcome to the forum Bob! There's quite a few here who have tried emeralds, something I'd like to do but haven't yet. I'm always worried about where to buy them from. Anyway, Doc's our resident gem cutter here, he's done some pretty awesome stuff. Somewhere in the photo section there's pics of an emerald he was working on, pretty big one too. Rock tumbling is an all-around great hobby and the people on this site are terrrific. All ready to help in a minute. Enjoy!! Cher
