Hi All The name here is Chris and I am from Morecambe England. I have only just got into this hobby (last week) and am still waiting for some of the equipment to arrive. I run a couple of websites for ham radio my other hobby at www.radiosociety.org.uk (the website of my club) and also www.junksale.co.uk (so UK radiohams can buy and sell their gear free of charge) I am also in the process of setting up my own lapidary website at www.earthscentre.co.uk there isnt any info on it yet (there is now) but your views on the layout so far would be appreciated. Cheers Chris

Hi
It is partially up and running now, I have been working on it today I just dont have any polished samples to put on it yet as my first batch are still polishing. But it does have photos of pieces of the rough I have aquired so far, and also of the tumbler I am using until the new one arrives.

Hi Kim
Yes it does look rather strange doesnt it but when it gives you everything you need to get started including jewellery findings for only £30 ($53) and can be bought in almost any town in the UK its not to bad value.
Hey Rose
Also nice to see a fellow Brit on here, Ive only just started tumbling to give me something to do whilst recovering from an operation but I already feel like I am hooked and will definately continue even after I have recovered, maybe even have a drive to the lake district to do some rock hounding.
Cheers Chris

Hey Chris - Does that little yellow robot talk?
"All systems go" "Recharge my grit"..................Stop whining "Your rocks are done"...................Well thank you, little guy
In for a farthing, in for a pound, heh? Quite a selection of rock for starters. Good luck, and don't forget to put RTH on your links page.

Hi Chris,
Welcome to the board, I'm also from the UK, I'm on the east coast of Scotland. Thats some nice looking rough stones you have there. I got a CR2 from Manchester Minerals a couple of weeks ago, it looks to be a good machine.
Dave.

Thanks for that Jack, I have just emailed him to find out where abouts his shop is and when its open.
The idea of making some of my own gear sounds great, especially when you look at the prices of commercial stuff.
I was planning on a trip to Manchester Minerals on friday as the wife has to go to a funeral in blackburn in the morning so not much further to go to stockport.

Hi Jack I havent had a reply yet from agatehouse but I just noticed that you said the guy was called Paul but on the agatehouse website ( www.agatehouse.co.uk/ ) it says that the guys name is Andy, do you think the place has changed hands or did you make a mistake on the name? Hopefully I will get a reply as I have sent 2 emails to different email addresses listed on the site and neither has been returned. I also went to Manchester Minerals on friday although the shop was smaller than i thought it would be, but the items on display were awesome especially the amethyst geode tables they have, shame I didnt have £1000 spare as I would have loved one of them. I bought a couple of books and also a couple of mexican brown agates. Oh and got their catalogue. Cheers Chris
