Even though I have been playing around with a tumbler for many years, I have just recently stumbled across this forum. It looks very interesting. At one time I even had a setup to make cabs, but once I got a tumbler, I never did another cab!
I found this forum because my tumbler finally wore out after 15 years and I fabricated my own. I am one who would rather build his own than buy one if I could do for less cost. I already had a motor or two laying around and a few other parts, so I thought it wouldn't be very hard to do. I spent less than $20 for parts I didn't have. The problem I had and needed an answer to was what is a good RPM for the tumbling barrel? I posted that question on this forum and got good answers which I very much appreciate.
Right now I have a batch on the final polish with my fabricated tumbler (using a Lortone 3 lbs. barrel). My old tumbler pooped out during the pre-polish.
Take care all, Wayne
PS: I posted a picture of a couple of my attempts in the Member Photo section under "Scan Test......"

Welcome to the forum Wayne. That's pretty funny that you had a cabbing machine before the tumblers. Seems like everyone here is trying to learn to make cabs. Now that I have a saw to make slabs, I'm happy to toss them in the tumblers. Saw your pic, thats nice stuff. I use my scanner a lot for pics.
