Hi All, I've been lurking here for a couple of months and it's time to say hi. I've just started with the rock polishing. Initially, my daughter who makes and sells jewelry thought she might like doing the rocks but they "take too long". As I was researching stuff for her, I found myself more and more interested in the tumbling, cabbing and wire wrapping. She said she will use the stuff if I make it. So here I am, tons of equipment later.....wondering where to start. I have a Lortone 33b, a Lot o Tumbler, a Hi Tech All u need, a 2 wheel grinding station, a foredom tool with drill press and lots of diamond burs and attachments, a workforce saw and several lbs of tumbling rough. I work away from home quite a bit, so I'm limited as to what I have time to do. I'm hoping that this summer I can get enough polished to take with me for the fall and spend that time working on actually making the beads and wraps. I hope by August I will have something worthy to show you all. I've looked at most of the pictures you all post and you have such beautiful stuff.

Dang, you're pretty well set-up for just a beginner. That's a lot of great equipment!
Anyhow, welcome aboard, and rock on!

yeah, it's a lot of equipment....let's just say I took a little side trip to Franklin, NC when I was working down near Clemson....unfortunately, the stuff was too noisy to use in the apartment I was living in and this is the first chance since April that I've had the chance to set anything up. I'm trying to set everything up in the basement and I can't decide what I want to tumble first. Looking at everyone's work is such an inspiration.

Actually, I didn't buy it all at once. I bought the LotoTumbler for her and some rough. She started a load. Then I bought some more rough, but it was big, so I thought, I need a saw and you all were talking about the wf, so I bought that. Then I went to Franklin, NC and a couple rock shops (ok more than a couple) and I saw the "all u need" and I thought, well I could make cabs and maybe with the right attachment, take a stab at rough faceting. THEN I decided I needed the grinder unit to shape better than the flat lap. all of this was over the space of a couple months. So now I've cleared off my two workbenches in the basement and taken all the stuff down there. I'm a bit obsessive with my hobbies.......what can I say?"
