Hi, all! Have only been tumbling since February, but I have learned so much already from all of you and from my mistakes that I feel like I really am blooming! Have loved rocks since I was a little girl as my godparents were really, really into it and my dad and I collected rocks all the time. In fact, 25 years after he passed away, I found an antique crock in my mother's garage with about 8 gallons of rocks that my dad and I had collected some 40 years earlier. I am married, am a retired college administrator and the caretaker for my 93 year old mother who has rather severe dementia. I got a two barrel Lortone (6 #'s each) tumbler for Christmas and just yesterday was surprised with a bench polisher from my husband. So I'm a happy camper! My name CQ has been a joke for about 30 years and it originally meant Carp Queen because when I was single, I was such a sucker for falling for lines from men. So my friends gave me that nickname because a Carp is a type of sucker fish I guess. Then most recently, in the past 8 years, I was given the name CQ because I make coleslaw for over 1000 people every holiday at the Holiday Community Meals. So, not knowing my prior nickname, one of the holiday kitchen crew nicknamed me the Coleslaw Queen. So there you have it! Thanks for your patience with all silly questions, but I am learning. I really appreciate the two local guys that are helping me along (Offbeat-Bill and Yeahda1-Dick B.) and to Jrtrio for his detailed info. Hoping the sun is shining in you life, CQ

Good to get to know you, CQ. I believe I will refer to you as "CQ" from now; it's much better sounding than "CarpQueen"!

Hello CQ, from another Michigan person. I am fairly new also, been tumbling since March 2005, just started shaping and cutting 2 or 3 months ago. I just use a workforce tile saw and bench grinder, and for fine shaping a Dremel with diamond wheels and burs. Welcome to the forum. Terry
