Good morning, all! A post on a mosaic board led me to this group. Though I must confess I'm not an official rock person, I have always had interest in rocks. While growing up, my family lived near a man who has always been into rocks. In fact, I remember his c.b. radio handle was Rockhound. His name is Covan, but I won't post his last name in case he wouldn't appreciate such. I'm actually fishing for information about tumbling glass. A project of mine produces an abundance of leftover or broken glass shards, so I thought I might give it a try, using the tumbled pieces in various other projects. I've seen suggestions ranging from one spoon of coarse grit to using Borax to using dish soap, so I'll likely try a few of those ideas. At this point I only have a small red tumbler which I purchased for my kids when they were younger. Okay, I hear some of you laughing. I'll admit having admired the nicer tumbers, but that isn't a priority right now. This gives me time to research, but thus far it appears a Lortone? I'm drawing the name from memory right now, hope I got that right. Many thanks for allowing me to join!

Hi Wuvie, welcome to the forum! I've tumbled a few pieces of glass and they turned out beautifully. I just tossed them into a regular load of rocks and ran them through the 5 step process that I use. You can also leave them partially polished so they look like frosted glass. Enjoy, before long you'll be knee deep in and having a blast. Cher

Hey Wuvie! What part of OK? My parents live in Checotah. (recently put on the map by Carrie Underwood)
My wife and I found some great agate on the banks of the Illinois River up by Tallequah.
